1/10/05 - With the popularity of music on CD, cassette tapes are going the way of the 8-track player. Still, most local, state and federal governments use cassette tapes for recording and duplication. The new update to MeetingPro Gov aims to change that. The new software offers an affordable way to replace tedious manual tape copying with digital duplication on CD. These disks are compatible with any standard audio CD player, including portable, car and home stereo systems.

MeetingPro Gov records meetings in digital format on any Windows computer. After the meeting, the software generates CD disk files from the digital recording with just a few clicks. Duplicating a CD is dramatically faster and easier than duplicating a cassette tape. CD drives can write at up to 48 times the speed of copying tape, and computer-based CD duplicators can automatically copy a set of disks, complete with printed labels.

Providing a meeting recording on CD also benefits the people listening to them. Not only is the digital recording clearer and more intelligible, you can skip over unimportant sections of the meeting using the track button on the CD player. The clarity and convenience of digital recordings, along with ongoing disappearance of cassette tape players, makes meeting recordings on CD very attractive.

The new Audio CD export feature of MeetingPro Gov complements a number of other features in the product that can increase government efficiency. MeetingPro Gov makes it easy to post meeting recordings to a website. Webcasting meetings can eliminate the need for tapes or disks, in most cases. Anyone with Internet access can listen to recordings online or download MP3 copies of the audio for playback on an iPod or other portable MP3 player. MeetingPro Gov also includes a number of features to streamline the process of producing meeting minutes, saving staff time. This includes one-click note taking, and support for a USB foot pedal for hands free transcription.
