How SoniClear Digital Court Reporting Works

SoniClear is used in your courtroom to provides the same services you expect from a traditional reporter, without compromise.

  • SoniClear software runs on a Windows computer in your courtroom and captures audio from the sound system or supplied microphones.

  • A certified digital court reporter or trained court staff use the software to create a detailed recording of the session.

  • The digital court reporter marks exhibits, provides readbacks, and ensures that the participants are speaking clearly.

  • Recordings are transcribed in-house with the assistance of SoniClear AI, or sent to specialized court transcription services.

The normal courtroom routines are maintained and a transcript will be produced that is as accurate as transcripts by steno reporters.

For cases that do not require the most stringent transcription standards, such as routine civil litigation and traffic courts, SoniClear can be operated by court staff to produce recordings that can be transcribed when required for appeals. This can free up court reporters for more critical cases where the judge or litigants prefer using traditional reporters.

For states where digital reporting has been permitted in courtrooms, SoniClear has been in use for over fifteen years. Over this time, it has been proven that using SoniClear software to replace traditional steno reporting technology is reliable and accurate.
